Ag Day on Campus

Ag Day on CampusMembers of the Collegiate Farm Bureau (CFB) will be giving students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison an opportunity to interact with agriculture at Ag Day on Campus being held Wednesday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Library Mall.

For the first time in the events history, Ag Day on Campus falls on the same day as Earth Day. Most people may not think of the deep roots farmers have to the land, therefore agriculture students are excited to share messages about agricultural sustainability in connection with Earth Day.

"We are excited to host the fifth annual Ag Day on Campus to help students get connected with the agricultural industry and learn how modern farming is sustainable," said Kate Griswold, University of Wisconsin-Madison student majoring in Life Sciences Communication and current member of CFB. "For the third year in a row, we will be partnering with the University Club on campus and will be providing food products grown and produced right here in Wisconsin."

The Collegiate Farm Bureau will be handing out food samples using products from Wisconsin including milk from Sassy Cow Creamery, Rushing Waters Smoked Trout, Gardens To Be micro greens, Franklin pork, Pure Sweet Honey, Underground Butchers meats and artisanal Wisconsin cheeses. The public is also encouraged to check out the menu at the University Club that day, which will be featuring some of these products.

"Our members are excited to talk to other students about sustainable farming practices in Wisconsin," said Griswold. "Most of us grew up on farms and we all have a passion for agriculture. There are a lot of inaccurate perceptions about agriculture production and we are excited to share the many reasons why Every Day is Earth Day for Farmers."

Sponsors of Ag Day on Campus include Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board, Wisconsin Corn Growers Association, Badgerland Financial, Dane County Dairy Promotion, Milk Source, Association of Women in Agriculture, University Club, Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, GreenStone Farm Credit Services, SCR Dairy, Inc., Rosy-Lane Holsteins LLC, Dairy Business Milk Marketing Cooperative, Agri-Nutrition Consulting LLC, Wisconsin Pork Association, Ebert Enterprises LLC, Alpha Gamma Rho – Iota, Country Pride Meats, Wisconsin Women for Agriculture and Badger Dairy Club.
