Cris and Doris Rocha, Tillamook, Ore., have donated a direct female descendant of the 2000 National Jersey Jug Futurity winner, Sunset Canyon MBSB Anthem-ET, to sell for the benefit of the Charlene Nardone National Jersey Queen Fund at the Western National Jersey Sale on September 6, 2012 in Puyallup, Wash.

The next six dams are all Excellent, and all have lactation records over 1,000 lbs. fat. The fourth dam is "MBSB Anthem," Excellent-95% with 37,087 lbs. milk, 1,732 lbs. fat and 1,383 lbs. protein in 365 days. She was a daughter of Sunset Canyon Brook Amity, Excellent-90% with 32,214 lbs. milk, 1,601 lbs. fat and 1,153 lbs. protein. The next two dams are the Excellent-93% Goodnow Midnight Blue-ET and Observer Althea Anna, Excellent-90%.

The National Jersey Queen Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by Jersey dairy women interested in expanding travel and educational opportunities for the National Jersey Queen and members of the court. It provided a $500 scholarship and all-expenses paid travel to three national Jersey events for 2011 National Jersey Queen, Cassy Krull, Lake Mills, Wis. Scholarships of $300 and $200, respectively, were also provided to the two alternate Queens: Cassandra Chittenden, Schodack Landing, N.Y., and Kelli Carstensen, Petaluma, Calif.

The National Jersey Queen contest is held in conjunction with The All American Jersey Shows and Sales, scheduled for November 3 through 5 in Louisville, Ky. Over the two-day contest, the contestants complete a general dairy knowledge test, are interviewed by a panel of judges, and prepare a two-minute video presentation demonstrating their public speaking skills. The 2012 Queen and court will be announced the evening of November 3, then formally introduced at the start of the National Jersey Jug Futurity, November 4 at 1:00 p.m. EST in Freedom Hall at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
