Cedarvale Charleston Daughters Top Grand National Ayrshire Sale


Wisconsin Ayrshire breeders hosted the Grand National Ayrshire Sale on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the Cow Palace North in Kaukauna, WI. A large crowd participated in the grand finale of the National Ayrshire Convention where 53 live animals averaged $2,735.

The top-selling animal was a winter calf sired by Cedarvale Charleston and out of an Excellent BBBK daughter. Vieux Village C Maika sold for $8,100 to Lindsey, Kyle and Kelsey Schilling of Boggstown, IN. "Maika" got her start on the tanbark early this show season with second place honors at the Canadian National Spring Show in Quebec. Her dam is EX-90. She was consigned by the Foley Family of Piopolis, Quebec.

Another Cedarvale Charleston daughter, Vieux Village C. Juliann, was the second higher seller. This VG Sr. 3-Year-Old sold for $6,000 to Cristy Sathre of Adams, MN. She is a two-time All-American nominee with 20,000M at 2-04. She was consigned by Gene Hall Jr. of Cushing, OK.

A crowd favorite was a winter calf sired by Margot Calimero out of an EX-94 BBBK daughter with records to 5-00 365D 33,937M 3.8% 1298F 3.0% 1027P. Onword Calimero Attagirl-ET sold for $5,000 to the partnership of Katie Henson, Lindsey Rucks and Jacob Worden, Ashville, OH. "Attagirl" is a full sister to the world-reknown Onword Calimero Addy-ET, EX-92, with 2-03 365D 26,130M 3.9% 1015F 3.2% 826P. She is a three-time All-American and two-time All-Canadian. The consignor was Jonna Schutte of Monona, IA.

Rounding out the top five sellers were two of the highest genetic indexing animals in the sale, and both were sired by Palmyra Tri-Star Burdette-ET. Palmyra Burdette LH Roberta-ET is a winter calf and the maternal sister to the popular A.I. sires Ramius and Reality. Her dam is an EX-90 "Lover's Heligo's" All-American with records to 4-06 365D 32,980M 3.8% 1238F 3.1% 1014P. The next dam is an EX "Reno" with over 174,000M lifetime and has sons Remington and Raven in A.I. "Roberta" was consigned by Palmyra Farms of Hagerstown, MD, and sold for $4,800 to Robert and Tiffany Hazeltine of Janesville, WI.

Maple-Dell Burdette Dora-ET, a spring calf, is out of the well-known Maple-Dell Zorro Dafourth, EX-95 2E, with records to 6-01 365D 30,950M 4.5% 1387F 3.0% 939P and over 141,000M lifetime to date. "Dafourth" is a national show champion, has been Reserve All-American twice, and has sons Drew and Diego in A.I. The next dam is EX-90 with 4-01 365D 27,290M 4.9% 1330F 3.2% 865P. "Dana" sold for $4,200 to Susan Edwards and Wade and Jennifer Brunsman of West Grove, PA. She was consigned by David Patrick, Maple-Dell Farm, Woodbine, MD.

The high-selling embryos were consigned by Douglas Evans of Georgetown, NY. The mating of De La Plaine Prime x Stillmore BBBK Klassy sold for $600 per embryo to Michael Maier of Stitzer, WI. "Klassy" is EX-94 with records to 6-09 365D 28,550M 3.8% 1078F 3.5% 1001P and is a three-time Reserve All-American. The next dam has records to 6-03 333D 33,958M 4.4% 1511F 3.1% 1049P.
