2014 All-American Dairy Show to Feature Nation's Top Cows, Dairy Events
Annual Show Runs Sept. 13-18 in Harrisburg
The 2014 All-American Dairy Show will feature top dairy cattle shown by the best exhibitors in the nation from Sept. 13-18 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. "The All-American enters its next 50 years with a strong lineup of shows, events and activities for dairy producers and casual visitors alike," said Agriculture Secretary George Greig. "I invite all Pennsylvanians to stop by the show, grab a Farm Show milkshake, and see the best that Pennsylvania's more than $2.5 billion dairy industry has to offer."
Nearly 3,000 animals and more than 1,100 exhibitors from across the nation and Canada will participate in the six-day event.
The 11th Premier National Junior Events, set for Sept. 13-16, are youth shows, contest and programs themed "Now Premiering: the 2014 All-American Dairy Show." This year's event includes seven national shows culminating with the selection of Supreme Champion cow and heifer on Monday, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m.
The 17th All-Dairy Antiques and Collectibles Show will feature treasures from all segments of the dairy industry, from farms to processing and retail, on display and for sale. Show hours are noon 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, and 8 a.m. 5 p.m. the remainder of show week.
Obie Snider Award winner Jane Pepple of Oxford, Chester County, and Image Award winner Gary Hennip of Rome, Bradford County, will be recognized at the All-American Dairy Show dairy farmer appreciation banquet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15. The awards are the show's highest honors.
Activities Tuesday include the Milkshake Madness Celebrity Contest at 11 a.m. and the Eastern Elite cattle sale at 5:30 p.m.
Youth interested in the dairy industry will participate in the show's 4-H and FFA judging forum and dairy management, invitational judging and showmanship contests.
The All-American concludes with the selection of supreme champion cow and heifer on Thursday, Sept. 18, at approximately 1 p.m.
The show caps off with the 56th Pennsylvania Dairy Princess Pageant at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel in Harrisburg.
