The 115th AGM of the Ayrshire Breeders' Association of Canada



Ayrshire Breeders' Association of CanadaThe Ayrshire Breeders' Association of Canada held their Annual General Meeting Friday February 27th, 2015 in Orford, Québec.

This event has held in conjunction with Ayrshire Québec, whose AGM was held Thursday February 26th. Once again, this format worked very well, gathering a greater number of breeders at one time, in one location.

Members from all across the country attended this three-day event, which featured various activities.

Ayrshire Québec presented their All-Québec Awards during their Wine & Cheese Cocktail, as well as their Production Awards during their banquet, held Thursday evening.

On Friday, Ayrshire Canada's Meeting went well, and members took note of the achievements and work carried out throughout 2014. All- Canadian Prizes as well as the 2014 Production Stars were awarded over lunch. Mr. Mario Perreault, President of Holstein Canada, Mr. Brian Van Doormaal, General Manager of Canadian Dairy Network, and Mr. Doug Evans spoke that day, and topics revolved around genomics, the LPI formula, partnership among people in the Dairy Industry, and the 2015 National Ayrshire Convention as well as the 2016 World Ayrshire Conference, which will be held in the United States. During the evening, guests enjoyed an excellent dinner as well as the unique atmosphere of the Awards presentation. Four Master Breeders were honoured at the Banquet, that is: Ferme La Seigneurie, Ferme Mont-Comi, Ferme Kamouraska, and Ferme Bellevue du Lac. This year's Award of Merit was given to Mr. Bruno Soucy, and the Honorary Member Award was presented to Mr. Marcellin Therrien.

The new Board of Directors was introduced to the members. At the helm of the Board of Directors, as the 2015 President of Ayrshire Canada, is Mr. François Beaudry, seconded by Mr. Jean-Philippe Daunais, as Vice-President. Mr. Jonathan Lemay, Mr. Hendrick Larouche, Mr. Mario Lacerte, President of Ayrshire Québec, Mr. Robert Powell, Mr. Duane Tolhurst, Mr. Peter Rossiter, and Mr. Bob Saville will be serving as Directors.

The following Ayrshire Farms were visited on Saturday: Ferme Coubert Holstein/Du Petit Lac Ayrshire, Pine Legacy Senc, Sugar Ledge, and Island Brook Ayrshire. Sincere thanks are expressed to the Club Ayrshire St-François, the various Farms' owners, and the numerous sponsors for their contribution and involvement.
