One of the most popular attractions at the Pennsylvania Farm Show plans a delicious surprise to mark the 100th PA Farm Show. The PA Dairymen's Association will produce and sell a brand new flavor of their legen-DAIRY, milkshakes. The surprise newest milkshake flavor will be revealed at a sweet ceremony at Noon on Friday, January 8 at the Dairymen's Association's booth at the Food Court at the Pennsylvania Farm Show and Expo Center in Harrisburg.

In addition, the Dairymen's Association will join with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and Feeding Pennsylvania to announce the statewide expansion of the Dairymen's highly successful #FillaGlasswithHope philanthropic campaign to bring fresh milk to food bank clients across the Commonwealth. It is the first-such state-based fresh milk initiative in the United States. Since the program's launch at the PA Farm Show in January 2015, #FillaGlasswithHope has raised more than $175,000, providing more than 850,000 servings of fresh milk to Central Pennsylvania Food Bank clients in 27 counties.

About the PA Dairymen's Association:
PA Dairymen's Association was originally formed as the Crawford County Dairy Association in 1871. Within 17 years, the county group had become a statewide organization with a focus on supporting Pennsylvania dairy farms. In 1954, the Association joined together with the Valley Grange #1360 from Lewisberry, Pa. to serve hand-dipped milkshakes at the PA Farm Show. More than 60 years later, the Association now serves 140,000 of vanilla, chocolate and mixed milkshakes each year!

The Dairymen rely on the annual PA Farm Show to fund their activities. The Association has surpassed the $1 million mark in funding to dairy youth-development and education programs -- securing a bright future for the Pennsylvania dairy industry. Products they sell include: milkshakes, milk/chocolate milk, ice cream sundaes, ice cream cones, deep-fried mozzarella cubes with marinara sauce and toasted-cheese sandwiches.

About Feeding Pennsylvania:
Feeding Pennsylvania is a partnership formed among Pennsylvania's Feeding America member food banks. Our collective effort promotes and aids our members in securing food and other resources to reduce hunger and food insecurity for their communities and across Pennsylvania, and provides a shared voice on the issues of hunger and food access within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The call to action has never been greater. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, in 2012, more than 1.82 million individuals in Pennsylvania – 14.3% or 1 of every 7 Pennsylvanians – experienced food insecurity and were at risk of hunger.
