Today over 180 youth participating in the 58th National Dairy Conference who have a passion for the dairy industry visited Fort Atkinson to explore a few of Wisconsin’s agri-businesses. After a brunch where they heard from Barbara George, Director of Family and Consumer Nutrition Sales at Nasco, along with Amanda Smith and Lucas Sjostrom from Hoard’s Dairyman. Youth broke into four groups and their tour stops included the National Dairy Shrine, Nasco, and the Hoard’s Dairyman office and farm.

Associate Editor Amanda Smith gives the details on the department's responsibilities.

The students, mostly juniors and seniors in high school, have the opportunity to explore production-orientated careers along with those in allied industry, interact with some of the industries movers and shakers, and learn about a variety of dairy industry topics in a series of seminars.
