Ayrshire champion hails from Iowa

As the first day of World Dairy Expo wraps up, the Ayrshire champions for 2011 have been named.

Justin Burdette, Mercersburg, Penn., lead judge in the International Ayrshire Show, assisted by Sean Johnson of Glenville, Penn., selected Steam-Valley Wilton Magic Bri owned by John Cannon & Kurt Wolf of Epworth, Iowa, as the Grand Champion Ayrshire at World Dairy Expo today. Steam-Valley Wilton Magic Bri was entry 593 in the Five-Year-Old Cow class. As the reserve champion, they selected Sweet Pepper Black Francesca owned by Beverly J. Donovan of Benton, Maine who was exhibited in the Six-Year-Old and Over class at Expo.

In the junior show Conebella Sarge's Wendy owned by Tanner Topp of Wooster, Ohio was named Senior Champion Female of the junior show. Derek Patrick's Maple-Dell Poker Spade-Et was the Reserve Senior Champion. The pair hail from Woodbind, Maryland. Four-Hills Trident Snoopy, owned by Britney & Bradley Hill of Bristol, Vermont, received an honorable mention nod.

The Senior and Reserve Champion females of the junior show also received Grand and Reserve Grand honors.

The Intermediate Champion cow was Forever Schoon Ping owned by Ferme De La Plaine in Ste-Francoise, Quebec, Canada. Reserve honors were awarded toOnword Calimero Addy-Et owned by Jonna Schutte of Oelwein, Iowa.
